Some connections change everything. For me, one of those was Sil. Back when I ran my first venture, Marion Maakt, I was hosting workshops on making your own skincare. I had been on a long, winding journey to find solutions for my acne-prone skin, and when I finally did, I wanted to share it with the world. Soon, workshop attendees were asking me to make products for them, and that’s how my very first skincare line was born. First as Marion Maakt, now, for almost two years, as nourist.
Around that same time, Sil had her own thing going: Healthy Hair Boss. She was helping people care for their (curly) hair naturally, with smart hacks and a holistic approach. Somewhere in early 2020, she came to me with a proposal: “Why don’t we create a product together?” As a herbalist and organic skincare formulator, I had the formulation knowledge, she knew all the dos and don’ts for haircare. I didn’t hesitate: let’s do it.
Our first two collaborative products were a success, but we also had some bumps in the road thanks to the lab we worked with. Then, through social media, we met Quirina, a curl hairdresser. Somehow, the three of us clicked immediately. It felt so right that we decided to build a haircare brand together, based on the products from the original collab, completely rebranded, with Quirina on board. That’s how Mellon was born in 2024.
Then came my second pregnancy. Nine months of relentless nausea, and suddenly nourist needed to run without me at full speed. Sil stepped in. She kept everything afloat, managing the brand with grace and care. Honestly, it felt like a gift, someone who could take the reins when I couldn’t.
Over time, I realized something I had been thinking for a while: Sil would be the perfect addition to nourist officially. Her background as a designer and marketer, her creativity, her eye for detail, and the trust she had in the brand after seeing her own skin transform. So with a racing heart, I asked her. And she said YES.
From 2026 onwards, nourist isn’t just my journey anymore. Sil will stand right beside me. Quirina, our partner at Mellon, who has been a loyal nourist user from the start, has been cheering us on every step of the way. It’s finally all falling into place.
What probably sealed the deal for Sil, besides our shared vision, was her own skin transformation. She went from reactive, acne-prone skin to a healthy, radiant glow using nourist products. I can’t wait to share more, and I feel so lucky that this next chapter of nourist will be written together with Sil.
