We are thrilled to introduce you to nourist's Micellair Water, our latest product ready to hit the shelves soon.
This beauty has been on my 'must-conquer' list for a long time. Why, you ask? Let's dive into the world of micellar waters.
The problem with most micellar waters
Micellar water has a bit of a bad reputation, and I understand that. Many micellar waters on the market are filled with harsh surfactants, drying alcohols, and other nasties that can easily disrupt your skin barrier. That is too bad because the concept of micellar water is very nice: it promises quick and easy make-up removal and face cleansing. Who wouldn't want that?
Our solution: a gentle, effective micellar water
Before I switched to natural cosmetics and healed my skin, I was in a complicated relationship with micellar water. It was quick. It was easy. But it was also wrong. So, once I made the swap to natural cosmetics, I found myself missing the convenience of micellar water. Hence, the lightbulb moment: there must be a way to make this simple product suitable for sensitive and reactive skin.
After many trials, we cracked it! We've succeeded in creating a micellar water that's quick, easy, and best of all, kind to your skin.
The secret addition: prebiotics
While ordinary micellar water can be harsh on the skin due to the presence of alcohol, perfume, and other irritants, ours is kinder, gentler, and loving towards your skin. The reason? We've added a special ingredient - a prebiotic. This ingredient counters the effects of the surfactant, ensuring that while the skin gets cleaned, the skin barrier is quickly restored.
Moreover, tests were conducted with and without the addition of prebiotics. Without prebiotics, the 'protective microbiota' decreased by 61%. However, with prebiotics, it increased by 42%. This is quite remarkable for a cleansing product, making our micellar water also a suitable choice for acne-prone and reactive skin.
Why compromise when you can have it all?
So, why compromise on your skin's health with harsh ingredients when you can have an effective, gentle, and skin-loving product?
Our micellar water allows you to remove your makeup swiftly, especially the stubborn eye makeup, and acts as a supplement to your cleanser for that extra deep cleaning.
How to use it?
Integrating our micellar water into your skincare routine can be as flexible as you'd like it to be. For those of you who love wearing makeup, our purifying cleanser alone can do the trick, but the micellar water gives a little extra power to eradicate stubborn makeup, especially leftover mascara residues in the morning. On makeup-free days, the micellar water or cleanser can be used individually.
If you're concerned about over-cleansing, don't worry. While I do caution against excessive cleansing, the mild formulation of our products ensures a gentle clean, even with double cleansing and even for sensitive skin.
Now, let's explore the different ways you can incorporate our products into your routine:
Option 1: Eye makeup removal: This is my personal favorite. Use the cleanser in the morning and/or evening. Next, apply micellar water to a cotton pad and gently wipe over closed eyes to remove any remaining eye makeup.
Option 2: Double Cleansing: First, apply the cleanser to your face and follow the usage instructions. Afterward, use a cotton pad soaked in micellar water to wipe away any residual cleanser. This method provides a deeply satisfying double cleanse. It's not required every time, but if you've used micellar water all over your face, a quick rinse with water is suggested to avoid any potential skin reactions triggered by surfactants. However, these reactions are minimized by the presence of prebiotics.
Option 3: Some of our testers found it more pleasant to first use micellar water and then the cleanser (so you don't have to rinse afterward). That's certainly possible too!
Contrary to popular Internet belief, it's not obligatory to cleanse first with an oil-based product (our cleanser) and then water (our micellar water). With our products, doing things the other way around works just as well. Remember, your skincare routine should be tailored to suit you!
